5 Benefits of Hiring a Speaker Coach

For a lot of people, hiring a speaker coach may not be on their radar. However, there are a number of people who can benefit from professional help. Whether you are someone who represents your company at business meetings and events or a professional full-time speaker, you may want to consider hiring a speaker coach in the new year.

Here are 5 benefits of hiring a speaker coach:

1. Not just setting goals, but making them happen

Goal setting. It’s something many of us intend to do as we enter a new year. But more often than not, it just doesn’t happen. Want to give a talk? Want to improve on your last one? Working with a speaker coach will help you articulate your speaking and communication goals and begin moving them forward.

2. Get real feedback that you can act on

Real improvement doesn’t come from being told what you want to hear. It comes from being told what you need to hear and what to do about it. A speaker coach will help you identify the areas where you can develop your communication ability and realize them for the greatest impact. Your coach will become an invaluable sounding board for your unique speaking and sensitive communication challenges.

3. Practice makes progress

Like any skill, excellence in speaking and communication comes from three things: practice, practice, practice. Your speaker coach will work with you to ensure you are pushing yourself by encouraging you to try different approaches and by identifying opportunities to apply your new skills.

4. Your coach has got your back (and your front!)

Your speaker coach is perhaps the one person who has your best interest at heart. And know this: your success is their success. They want to see you deliver the very best speech or communicate as effectively as possible. A good speaker coach is like a proud mama or papa watching from the wings. They desperately want you not just to succeed, but to thrive.

5. Confidence is contagious

Most people are terrified of public speaking. Perhaps one of the most important benefits from coaching is that your self-confidence will improve and will continue to improve. Speaking and communication is something we all do every day, at work and at play. As you work with your speaker coach and develop your communication skills, you will begin to feel excited about speaking opportunities that become available to you. And people will see it in you too. That confidence is contagious.

  1. I really like what you said about how working with a speaker coach will help you articulate your speaking and communication goals. My cousin has a small business and he wants to learn to do his job better and speak to his employees in business meetings more clearly and motivate them. Thank you for the information about how he needs to do what he can to make his goal actually happen by getting started with a coach.
