One-on-One With David
David, who influenced you and how did they influence your thinking, photographing, and career path?
I get influenced by the things around me. Some are physical – like people. Others are abstract – like ideas, feelings, desires. I’m not really an expert on any one subject matter; more at making connections between a lot of different things and how they interact and as a result, the way I am inspired and influenced is all over the place – very eclectic and is driven by interest, need, desire to solve a problem I am thinking about or trying to express.
I am inspired by creativity in general. People who make me think, ask questions, interact with an idea and who like the journey.
Conversely, I like to just be. Sometimes, you need to shut down and be open to what comes at and through you. Connections, emotions, ideas… solutions.
What motivates you to continue taking pictures?
I am motivated by discovery. By Expressing myself. By learning and by moving forward every day. By challenging myself. To learn. To achieve. To fail. To overcome fear.
If you were to give advice to a young person starting out in their career, what would it be?
Follow your passion. Work hard. Be true to yourself. Love over Money.
